McEwen Inc. has four producing mines, located in Nevada, Ontario, Mexico, and Argentina, and also has exposure to copper through its subsidiary McEwen Copper, owner of the large Los Azules copper deposit in Argentina. Our goal is to further develop into a strong and profitable gold and silver producer, focused on the Americas. In order to do that, we need great talent. Mill Electrician

Reporting to the Mill Electrical Supervisor, the Mill Electrician is primarily responsible for completing installations, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and modifications to the mill and site assets as well as ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation while maintaining compliance to provincial and federal codes and standards. They must be a committed team player with a strong knowledge and dedication to safety, production methods and equipment care. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs.

All employees are required to be professional, cooperative, and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.

Operational / Technical Execution

• Responsible for the electrical infrastructure and providing the preventative and predictive efforts to ensure that our Mill meets operating cost and availability targets.
• Ensure all electrical systems are operating effectively by following a regular maintenance program.
• Ensure minimal downtime in production schedules by repairing electrical failures promptly and efficiently.
• Execute preventive maintenance activities and work towards reliability excellence.
• Maintain all instrumentation, PLCs across the operation.
• Liaise with operations to identify and correct reliability and productivity issues and/or participate in root cause analysis.
• Involvement in business improvements regarding automation and innovation in all electrical aspects.
• Troubleshoot and repair Pumps, electric motors, Variable Frequency Drives, Instrumentation and programming.

General Administration and Controls

• Conduct audits of systems, equipment, and maintenance programs on a regular basis.
• Maintain all documentation, drawings and plans for equipment, power distributions, etc. up to date as changes are made.
• Keep accurate maintenance and repair records, ensuring any changes to electrical instruments are accurately documented.
• Participate in safety and other crew meetings, training, and education to workers on regulations in relevant areas such as the OH&S Act.
• Participate in daily/weekly planning meetings.
• Participate in safety programs.
• Lead by example, demonstrating a strong commitment to safety, quality of work, and efficiency. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the electrical team, ensuring high standards of performance and fostering a positive, safety-focused work environment.
• Participates in appropriate training and complies within the scope of their responsibilities within the Electrical Code.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Works in compliance with McEwen Ontario’s safety rules and the internal responsibility system.
• Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other policies, procedures, and requirements.
• Utilize a CMMS software to track maintenance and create work orders.

Qualifications and Skills Requirement

• Legal to work within Canada.
• Must hold a valid Ontario Driver’s License.
• 1st Class Industrial Electrician Designation and Certification 309A.
• Valid Ontario inter-provincial electrical trade qualification.
• Familiarity with reading electrical schematics and prints is necessary.
• Experience with Sub-stations, transformers, and powerlines.
• 5 - 10 years of experience, preferably in a mill/mining or similar environment is required.
• Minimum 3 years of mining, industrial or heavy commercial maintenance electrical experience.
• Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
• Self-starter with a solid technical background and proven troubleshooting skills.
• Vast knowledge of High Voltage Distribution and low voltage control systems.
• Good safety knowledge and understanding with the ability to recognize hazards and situations that may cause problems.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.
• The ability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative, and energetic environment.
• Proficient with computer software and all Microsoft applications, CMMS Software.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
